Marion Thomas ""Tom""  Shimp Jr.
Shimp, Jr., Marion Thomas "Tom", 74, of Moundsville, WV, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 23, 2014.

"Tom" was born November 30, 1939 in Moundsville, WV son of the late Marion Thomas Shimp, Sr. and Kathryn "Kitty" Kimble Shimp.

He retired from his military career as a Chief Warrant Officer after 22 years of service. After his retirement, he continued his career in public service in his private sector employment as a government contractor and more locally as a community leader with his commitment to the Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout Pack 457 and later Boy Scout Troop 459, both of Goose Creek, SC. Although he never finished high school, his friends and family alike considered him highly educated due to his extensive hobbies of reading, woodworking, gardening and mechanics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward "Bud" Shimp.

Surviving are his wife of nearly fifty-four years, Shirley Coen Shimp; his sons, Michael Shimp of Goose Creek, SC, Gary (Heather) Shimp of Pensacola, FL and Jeffery Shimp of Goose Creek, SC; two sisters, Mary Lou Edmonson of Belton, TX and Mona Smith of Moundsville, WV; four granddaughters, two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., June 15, 2014 at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

Full military service will be conducted at the cemetery by the Honor Guard.
